Pianogrillo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced organically by Lorenzo Piccione in the town of Chiaramonte Gulfi, in the province of Ragusa, from a local variety called Tonda Iblea. "Tonda" refers to the beautiful round shape of the olives, and "Iblea" comes from Monti Iblei in southeastern Sicily, where this olive is believed to have originated.
The olives are harvested with perfect maturity in October, individually picked and collected in three boxes and transported immediately to the family-owned farm. While the olive grove is ancient - some trees are almost 1000 years old - the production process is modern and clean, combining the best of Sicilian olive tradition with the latest technological innovations to produce a truly unique true virgin olive oil.
