F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi SpA, known as Bianchi, is the world's oldest bicycle manufacturer still in existence, and was the first to use equally large wheels with pneumatic rubber tires. The company was founded in Italy in 1885 and in addition to bicycles, they produced motorcycles from 1897 to 1967 and motor vehicles from 1899 in 1901. Edoardo Bianchi, was only 21 years old when he started his bicycle production in a small shop in Milan, Italy in 1885. Bianchi is the inventor of the caliper brake.

Bianchi bikes are traditionally painted in Celeste, a turquoise color also known as Bianchi Green. Conflicting myths say Celeste is the color of the sky in Milan, the eye color of a former queen of Italy, and some believe it was just a mixture of surplus military paint. The shade has changed over the years, sometimes more blue, then more green. Over time, Bianchi has been associated with the Italian Giro d'Italia and Tour de France winners, Fausto Coppi, Marco Pantani and Felice Gimondi.
